Medical care
Protecting the life and health of employees plays an important role in the human resources management of any company. PROSPECTOR has been helping employers for many years to create programmes aimed at improving the health and safeguarding employees and their loved ones in difficult situations of illness, accident or death.
Employee programmes include a wide range of products and solutions, enabling them to be uniquely tailored to the individual needs of the employer and employees:
- life insurance with pro-family options
- health insurance and medical subscriptions
- international travel insurance
- personal accident insurance
- income insurance in case of accident or illness
- pension schemes (PPE, PPK).
Comprehensive, well-chosen programmes not only protect the employer (death gratuity, medical treatment in foreign travel, claims by employees in connection with accidents at work) but also constitute an additional motivational tool, increasing the employer’s attractiveness and better binding employees to the company.
Life insurance gives employees financial security in the event of various unforeseen events, such as hospitalisation, cancer treatment, loss of a family member or rehabilitation after an accident. Modern schemes are highly flexible and offer employees individualised protection through a choice of different options and variants. In addition, an increasingly common solution is to link the death benefit to the employee’s salary (the sum insured is a multiple of the monthly salary).
Private medical care programmes in the form of insurance or subscriptions make it possible to take care of the employee’s health and that of his or her loved ones through quick access to specialists and diagnostics in renowned medical facilities throughout Poland. This is one of the benefits most desired by employees, especially due to the significant increase in the price of medical services. And keeping employees in good health is also an important aspect for any employer. Special complementary solutions such as hospital insurance, coverage of expensive therapies not reimbursed by the National Health Fund, “Best Doctors” (a benefits package providing organisation and coverage of treatment abroad in case of serious illness) or mental health protection allow employers to take even better care of their employees’ well-being and stand out on the labour market.
Medical package services are only provided within Poland. When an employer sends employees on a business trip abroad, they should cover them for medical expenses abroad. The best solution is to take out an annual, no-name, rotating policy that does not require employees to be named before each trip.
Despite having the right procedures and safeguards in place, accidents at work do happen. With accident insurance, the employee receives funds for treatment and the employer is not exposed to potential claims. At the same time, it is one of the cheaper benefits.
In the case of managerial contracts or professionals on B2B contracts, loss of income insurance plays an important role, which provides financial security against temporary or permanent incapacity. The amount of the benefit is linked to the amount of income.
The falling replacement rate from the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) and the low level of savings of Poles make pension schemes a very attractive element of payroll policy for any employer.
Additional benefits in the form of financial relief (the contribution paid by the employer is not included in the remuneration constituting the basis for compulsory social insurance contributions, and the funds paid out are exempt from capital gains tax) in group programmes are provided by PPE (Employee Pension Schemes) and PPK (Employee Capital Plans).
Benefit programmes can cover the entire workforce, selected employee groups or just management. Depending on the type of programme and the size of the budget, the contribution may be sponsored by the employer, deducted from the employee’s salary or paid jointly by the employer and the employee.
We know that, faced with rising costs and difficulties in attracting and retaining employees, employers are looking to modify and adapt their existing programmes. It is worth taking advantage of professional support and commissioning us to prepare the most optimal solutions and their implementation. Using our experience, you can maximise the benefits of your employee programmes, reduce costs while maintaining existing functionality and save your HR staff valuable time.
We offer our clients extensive support at every stage:
- an audit comprising an analysis of the factors influencing risk assessment (employment structure, nature of work, exposures, absenteeism, accidents) and an examination of the current provision for the life and health of employees (occupational medicine, existing contracts, prevention programmes) and their needs (questionnaire);
- development of programme assumptions taking into account the conclusions of the audit, the specifics of the company (staff turnover, business travel), the human resources management model (key employees, development path, corporate guidelines, forms of employment) and the problems of recruiting and retaining employees in the industry;
- analysis of market opportunities – collection and detailed comparison of available offers, negotiation of terms and conditions adapting the provisions of the contract to the individual employer’s needs;
- advice on choosing the best solution based on agreed assumptions for the programme, price and coverage preferences, division of employees into groups, proximity of medical facilities to work and residence, packages for employees’ families, special options for managers;
- implementation of the programme – preparation of information materials for employees, conduct of webinars and in-person meetings, email and telephone clarifications;
- support in the administration of the programme – training of the company’s staff designated to handle the contract in the procedures arising from the contract (reporting changes in the status of employees, referral to occupational health examinations), ongoing assistance in the execution of the contract (reimbursement requests, claims, monitoring of deadlines) and enforcement of entitlements (possible appeals and complaints);
- reporting and monitoring the functioning of the programme – periodic information on the use of the contract, responding to the changing situation of the company and new needs, following up on possible market novelties to be implemented, analysing employee satisfaction of the programme (surveys).
There is no additional cost involved in taking our advice, as, according to common practice and applicable law, brokerage services are free of charge to the policyholder. The broker’s fee is included in the insurance premium.
We share with our clients our practical knowledge of how employee programmes work and the market opportunities arising from years of experience in negotiating, implementing and operating various types of programmes. We encourage you to familiarise yourself with sample case studies.
